Thought For the Week

3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior"
Titus 3:3-6

A Message From Pastor Bill

How is Christianity different than every other religion? Is Christianity about what I bring to God or what He has done for me? How can I be amazed by grace?

We are going to celebrate communion this Sabbath. With Covid we cannot have foot washing so you are invited to do this at home if you'd like. When you come into church, there will be a table with a bottles of grape juice and ziploc bags with a piece of communion bread. Please take one of each into the service with you and we will celebrate receiving Christ and what he has done for us together. Also, pray for Jesus to prepare your heart so this is a powerful experience for you. For those of you who are worshipping from home, please see the previous email with the recipe for communion bread. This is an important reminder that the Christian life is not about what we bring Jesus but about what we receive from him. Whatever we give him and do for him and in obedience to him is merely and only saying thank you. It is deeply encouraging to our hearts to take part on this. Please make plans to be part of this. The darker the world gets the more we need the peace and joy of trusting Jesus.

Blessings,
Pastor Bill

FREE Medical/Dental Clinic

Thank you to each one who took part in the medical and dental clinic this past Sabbath. Whenever Jesus performed a healing miracle on Sabbath he always initiated the healing. Most of the other miracles Jesus was approached and asked for help.

Re-Opening Safety Guidelines

King County is still in Phase 2, which allows churches to meet with up to 25% of it's capacity, which means we may have up to 110 people in the sanctuary and overflow in the Fellowship Hall. We begin our simplified service at 11am. We will not be holding any Sabbath School classes nor meals at the church at this time.
If you are planning to attend, please be aware of the following precautions:
Masks must be worn throughout the service while in the building (unless you have medical reasons not to). We will provide a mask if you don’t have one.
• Maintain social distancing of 6 feet inside and outside of the building.
• Restrooms should have no more than 2 people in them at a time.
• Those who are at-risk for health conditions are encouraged to stay home.
• If you are sick, please stay home and join us on livestream until you are well.
• Please socialize outside in the breezeways or in the parking lot, not inside the buildings.
Thank you for taking steps to ensure the health of our congregation!

2021-2022 Church Officers: Due to the COVID-19 restrictions this year and inability to be involved, we are asking everyone to keep their offices for the next term. If anyone cannot continue after March 31, please let the office know via email or write a note on a pew card. The Nominating Committee will only fill positions as needed. Also, if you would like to be involved, please also do the same and we will gladly consider your request.

Women's Ministries: Ladies, you are welcome to join our virtual study Sabbath mornings at 9am. March 20 we will begin a new study looking at the book “HOPE for Troubled Times – How to thrive in a shattered world” by Pastor Mark Finley. ‘Fear, worry, and stress can overwhelm and consume us, but fear must give way to faith as we adjust our focus. Fear is an emotion, Faith is an attitude, and focus is a choice.’ If you are interested in joining our study group or have questions, please contact Anita Dorland or the church office.

Children's Online Sabbath School programs at 9:30am on Sabbath mornings. If you’re interested in joining, please email that class leader or contact the church office for contact info.

Scotland Mission Trip: The Scotland Mission trip has been postponed until further notice. We want to thank our church family for all your support and prayers. Please visit the web site for updates: https://goodnewsforscotland.wixsite.com/mission. Contact us for more information! 1/3 of the Portuguese Church pastor’s salary equaling $11,000, for his 1st year here. To contribute, please mark your tithe envelope “Portuguese Pastor.” Questions, contact Pastor Brandao.

Alarm System: Anybody with a key now also needs an alarm code once they enter the building at the office-side door. The code for the old key box at the office-side door has also been changed.

Announcement Info: If you ever have an announcement to add to the bulletin, bulletin board or from the pulpit, please get approval from the office by noon Thurs or speak directly to a pastor. Thank you!

Shut-Ins: In an effort to provide better care for our members, we are asking your help in locating members of the Kirkland church who are not able to come to Sabbath services. We do not always know when someone is ill or disabled. Our pastors and elders would love to visit with these valuable members.

Room/House for Rent? We receive many requests from various Adventist members needing temporary housing/rooms to rent in this area. If you have anything available, please contact the church office, 425-822-7922.

"Just Us," a new podcast from Washington Conference, launched this year to model healthy and respectful conversation about race, justice and Christianity. “Second Corinthians 7:2 gives counsel to ‘make room in your heart,’ and that is what we desire to do through this podcast,” says Bill Roberts, podcast host. “We may not always agree with each other, but we want to respect each other and move forward with understanding to bring glory to God and to help this world be a better place."The podcast originated after a pastor’s meeting in January 2019 where ministers learned how to have crucial conversations. “I asked the panel: ‘What can we do to keep growing?’” Roberts recalls. “The younger pastors said: ‘Do a podcast.’” Roberts is joined in the podcast with co-hosts Hanz Jouissance, John Brunt, and Mimi Weithers-Bruce. Each 45-60-minute episode blends history, personal experience and scripture. The pilot episode shares how the panel became involved in racial reconciliation.“It’s a difficult conversation in the church because we are all believers who are supposed to have a common ground,” admits Jouissance.“There are so many people who don’t want to change their heart. They want to keep things the way they are,” acknowledges Weithers-Bruce. “We are asking people to listen and learn.”
