Thought For the Week

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. Great multitudes followed Him—from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
Matthew 4:23-25
Thach

Our Speaker This Sabbath

Our Speaker This Sabbath will be Dr. Phuong Thach, ND, MSAOM, MPPA. Dr. Thach, is a board-certified naturopathic and functional medicine physician and the founder of the Hawker Center for Integrative Medicine. For the past couple of years, she served as the Health Ministries Leader and Board Secretary at the Kirkland Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dr. Phuong Thach is passionate about carrying the Great Commission and loves helping patients with complex medical cases who cannot find relief from the conventional medical system.

Sermon Topic: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." -1 Peter 5:8
Sickness, suffering, chaos, and destruction currently plague the world we are living in, for the devil is doing everything in his power to prevent man from achieving eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While the enemy utilizes countless strategies to destroy humanity, his target is clear: Our minds. If the enemy can impair, corrupt, and break down our minds, he can manipulate and deceive us into worshiping anything else but Jesus.

The good news is we serve an awesome God "who loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son" to earth, in human form, to be an example to us so that we can choose eternal life (John 3:16). By understanding the temptations that Jesus faced while being face-to-face with the devil and His responses, we can gain tremendous insight into the causes of mental health issues plaguing people today and learn how to overcome them.

Re-Opening Safety Guidelines

King County is now in Phase 3, however, until the distancing is reduced from 6 feet, we are unable to seat anymore people than 25% capacity and still distance safely. We have a committee that will be evaluating a plan for returning to normal as we are allowed. Until then, we will continue to have up to 110 people in the sanctuary with overflow in the Fellowship Hall. Our service begins at 11am and we are not holding any Sabbath School classes or meals at this time.

If you are planning to attend, please be aware of the following precautions:
Masks must be worn throughout the service while in the building (unless you have medical reasons not to). We will provide a mask if you don’t have one.
• Maintain social distancing of 6 feet inside and outside of the building.
• Restrooms should have no more than 2 people in them at a time.
• Those who are at-risk for health conditions are encouraged to stay home.
• If you are sick, please stay home and join us on livestream until you are well.
• Please socialize outside in the breezeways or in the parking lot, not inside the buildings.
Thank you for taking steps to ensure the health of our congregation!

"Just Us," a new podcast from Washington Conference, launched this year to model healthy and respectful conversation about race, justice and Christianity. “Second Corinthians 7:2 gives counsel to ‘make room in your heart,’ and that is what we desire to do through this podcast,” says Bill Roberts, podcast host. “We may not always agree with each other, but we want to respect each other and move forward with understanding to bring glory to God and to help this world be a better place."The podcast originated after a pastor’s meeting in January 2019 where ministers learned how to have crucial conversations. “I asked the panel: ‘What can we do to keep growing?’” Roberts recalls. “The younger pastors said: ‘Do a podcast.’” Roberts is joined in the podcast with co-hosts Hanz Jouissance, John Brunt, and Mimi Weithers-Bruce. Each 45-60-minute episode blends history, personal experience and scripture. The pilot episode shares how the panel became involved in racial reconciliation.“It’s a difficult conversation in the church because we are all believers who are supposed to have a common ground,” admits Jouissance.“There are so many people who don’t want to change their heart. They want to keep things the way they are,” acknowledges Weithers-Bruce. “We are asking people to listen and learn.”
