Thought For the Week

"Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23, 24

A Message From Pastor Bill

What can I do when my heart is proud and rebellious and I don't want tot follow God's will? Can God reach me then? Can God save me in spite of myself? Is there help for my weakness and stubbornness? Can Jesus reach even me? See you here this Sabbath!

Re-Opening Safety Guidelines

King County is still in Phase 2, which allows churches to meet with up to 25% of it's capacity, which means we may have up to 110 people in the sanctuary and overflow in the Fellowship Hall. We begin our simplified service at 11am. We will not be holding any Sabbath School classes nor meals at the church at this time.
If you are planning to attend, please be aware of the following precautions:
Masks must be worn throughout the service while in the building (unless you have medical reasons not to). We will provide a mask if you don’t have one.
• Maintain social distancing of 6 feet inside and outside of the building.
• Restrooms should have no more than 2 people in them at a time.
• Those who are at-risk for health conditions are encouraged to stay home.
• If you are sick, please stay home and join us on livestream until you are well.
• Please socialize outside in the breezeways or in the parking lot, not inside the buildings.
Thank you for taking steps to ensure the health of our congregation!

Church Work Bee: We need to plan a church work bee on either Jan. 24 or 31, weather permitting. We need to catch up on our yard maintenance before rehiring our landscapers. We mostly need to have leaves raked up & bushes and landscaping trimmed around the property, and then someone to haul the debris away. We hope to get 10-15 people so that it only takes a couple hours to accomplish. Please respond to this email if either day works for you and we'll determine which day we can get the most people. Thank you for helping the church out during this time of need.

Women's Ministries: Ladies, you are welcome to join our virtual study Sabbath mornings at 9am. We will be studying the book “The Exodus Journey – Choosing trust over anxiety on our way to the Promised Land” by Elizabeth Viera Talbot. If you are interested in joining our study group or have questions, please contact Anita Dorland or the church office.

Children's Online Sabbath School programs at 9:30am on Sabbath mornings. If you’re interested in joining, please email that class leader or contact the church office for contact info.

Scotland Mission Trip: The Scotland Mission trip has been postponed until June 2021.We want to thank our church family for all your support and prayers. Please visit the web site for updates on information: https://goodnewsforscotland.wixsite.com/mission. We are looking for people to come with us, early June 2021, contact us for more information! Anyone interested in joining in this amazing opportunity, please contact Jeff or Holly Leggott.

Funds Needed:
Worthy Student Fund—We have students that are in need of assistance at all levels. Please consider giving to our “worthy student fund.”
Audio Visual and Video Equipment Needed–We are currently looking to raise $60K to do a full upgrade of our audio, visual and live stream systems. This would help us upgrade to a modern system while fixing some of our compatibility issues we currently have. To donate, please mark your envelope A/V Equipment. If you are able to help volunteer or have questions please contact Jonathan Wirtz.
1/3 of the Portuguese Church pastor’s salary equaling $11,000, for his 1st year here. To contribute, please mark your tithe envelope “Portuguese Pastor.” Questions, contact Pastor Brandao.

Alarm System: Anybody with a key now also needs an alarm code once they enter the building at the office-side door. The code for the old key box at the office-side door has also been changed.

Announcement Info: If you ever have an announcement to add to the bulletin, bulletin board or from the pulpit, please get approval from the office by noon Thurs or speak directly to a pastor. Thank you!

Shut-Ins: In an effort to provide better care for our members, we are asking your help in locating members of the Kirkland church who are not able to come to Sabbath services. We do not always know when someone is ill or disabled. Our pastors and elders would love to visit with these valuable members.

Room/House for Rent? We receive many requests from various Adventist members needing temporary housing/rooms to rent in this area. If you have anything available, please contact the church office, 425-822-7922.

Information Changes: If your address and/or phone ever change, please make that indication on your tithe envelope or a pew card so the information also gets to the Treasurer, they will not know by your check alone. Thank you.

School News

  • PSAA has launched a Matching Fundraiser Campaign called "All That We Can Be." Through the generosity of two amazing donors, donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000. Our goal is to raise $300,000 in total to offset unexpected costs during these unpredictable times. All donations are tax-deductible, so as members plan for year-end giving, we hope you keep PSAA in mind. Thank you for your continued support of PSAA. We wouldn’t be here with you!

Conference News

  • "Just Us," a new podcast from Washington Conference, launched this year to model healthy and respectful conversation about race, justice and Christianity. “Second Corinthians 7:2 gives counsel to ‘make room in your heart,’ and that is what we desire to do through this podcast,” says Bill Roberts, podcast host. “We may not always agree with each other, but we want to respect each other and move forward with understanding to bring glory to God and to help this world be a better place."The podcast originated after a pastor’s meeting in January 2019 where ministers learned how to have crucial conversations. “I asked the panel: ‘What can we do to keep growing?’” Roberts recalls. “The younger pastors said: ‘Do a podcast.’” Roberts is joined in the podcast with co-hosts Hanz Jouissance, John Brunt, and Mimi Weithers-Bruce. Each 45-60-minute episode blends history, personal experience and scripture. The pilot episode shares how the panel became involved in racial reconciliation.“It’s a difficult conversation in the church because we are all believers who are supposed to have a common ground,” admits Jouissance.“There are so many people who don’t want to change their heart. They want to keep things the way they are,” acknowledges Weithers-Bruce. “We are asking people to listen and learn.”
